Laws and regulations

Both work, in this case office work, as well as the related products and services are subject to laws and regulations. In addition, a large amount of standards are applicable.
Due to the large work area and the international use of OFFI label we chose to limit the publication of laws, regulations and standards to the ones that are relevant and may be important when selecting a manufacturer/supplier or office supplies.

European Laws and regulations

  • Council Directive 89/391/EEC of 12 June 1989 on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work
  • Council Directive 89/654/EEC of 30 November 1989 concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the workplace (first individual directive within the meaning of Article 16 (1) of Directive 89/391/EEC)

Status of standards

The status of the normalization standards (such as EN) is not a 100% clear. For the time being, the system refers at general binding conditions. The fact that there are no applicable rules of publication concerning general binding conditions is quite remarkable. Also, the standards are protected with copyright. The legislation of the EU member states, however, may include that laws and regulations are excluded from copyright.
Considering the above, it is impossible for these standards to be published on this website literally. As yet, it will be limited to a description of the standard and in most cases a discussion forum will be provided.
